Keep All Your Windows Applications Up To Date

If you are like me, who would like to keep all your applications up-to-date, you will find the following tools useful. I use these tools on both of my laptops and found them very useful in keeping my applications up-to-date.
  1. Google Updater : Google Updater comes with Google Pack and keeps all the programs in the Google Pack up-to-date. Though the number of applications available for installation/auto-update through Google Pack is small, these are the very fundamental and highly used applications like Firefox, Skype, Adobe Reader etc. So, get the Google Pack and let it auto-update all the programs that it manages.
  2. filehippo.com Update Checker : filehippo.com Update Checker is a FREE tool that scans your computer for installed software, checks versions and provides a list (with a link to download) of the software for which there are newer versions available. This is a very small but highly useful tool and the list of the software that it detects and updates is growing bigger day-by-day.
  3. Apple Software Update & Microsoft Update : These two does what they say ... update only their own products. Apple Software Update is useful if you have iTunes or Quicktime or the beta version of the Safari installed. Microsoft Update keeps all microsoft software like Windows and Office up-to-date.
  4. Applications with auto-update : Many applications these days come with an auto-update feature. Enable this feature and be happy.
  5. And then there are applications which are not part of all the above. So, the only way to keep these applications up-to-date is to do a manual update. I personally hate all the applications in this category but until there is some alternative to these applications, I may have to live with the requirement for manual update. I keep a list of the applications in this category and also the direct link to their website's download page and when I find time, I check for the latest versions for these apps.
Hope this helps you. If you have any other software updaters/tools available that are not listed here, please do post in the comments ...
