Issues with Windows Live Hotmail

Is Microsoft trying to tell me that Internet Explorer is the best browser in the world by making Window Live Hotmail not work properly with other browsers ?

Few days back when I tried to use Hotmail with Mozilla Firefox, it gave me a message saying that the browser is not compatible and I should upgrade to a better browser. The irony is that they had Firefox listed as one of the choices to upgrade.

Today when I tried to check my Hotmail messages using Google Chrome, it doesn't let me select the messages. I can see the new messages but can't read them as I can't open them by clicking on them.

Microsoft's Windows update site doesn't work with any other browser and it is the only website that forces me to use Internet Explorer. Many other Microsoft's websites doesn't play nice with other browsers. This is annoying. And I also think it is deliberate. If this is the way Microsoft wants to make people use Internet Explorer, I would stop using their products and websites rather than using IE.

  1. Microsoft for the longest time, at least, has always made that their practice. None of the browsers play the same way, even though the W3 consortium has pushed for web standards for years, we are still a good ways from it. I did find that interesting that Microsoft has made a resurgence of pushing their browser over others again with hotmail. It will hurt them in the end.
