A new home for Dollar to Rupee exchange rates

As some of you might have already noticed, there is a new home for the Dollar to Rupee exchange rates. I have moved the latest Dollar to Rupee exchange rates to the previously historical values website to be more consistent.

Previously, you had to go to a different site to check the current values and a different site to check the historical values / chart. Now, everything related to Dollar to Rupee exchange rates is at one place and has a more consistent look and feel.

The live data page now displays when was the last time the values were fetched from the banks. This last fetch time is in UTC. The heading for each page is in a different color for easily identifying the latest values from the historical values (green is latest, red is historical).

So, in summary, below are the new links that you might want to bookmark.

Current Dollar to Rupee Exchange Rates – http://www.dollar2rupee.net

Historical / Old values - http://www.dollar2rupee.net/history

Line chart to compare the values graphically - http://www.dollar2rupee.net/chart

Thanks again for you support and suggestions. Keep the feedback coming.

  2. Hi

I liked the concept of http://d2r.madhukar4e.com/ , I was looking to mirror a webpage to my local site with a free host. I used to do with LWP cgi script with virtualave.net which went paid now. Wanted to know are you aware of free host where we can run such script to store web file locally upon request. My Idea is to create a proxy so I can visit sites (news markrt..) which are blocked in office. Programming platform is not important for me, how are you doing in your current website? (I beleive you are copy file locally & processing it)

Hope to hear soon from you. Thanks

  5. Hi Madhukar,

why don't you add airline fare comparison for travel to India to your blog. This will become a quick access to compare fares.

    Just a suggestion.

    Great site indeed.
Historical Exchange Rate Table shows 3 different rates for same institution for same day. May be you can put up a legend/note explaining what these 3 values mean.

  8. I just saw your site; it appears it is not current now. Last rates and posted notes I saw were of June 2008. Please confirm whether you are still actively servicing this site. I am interested to know if you can provide the best and cheapest method of sending remittance to India for credit to an account with HDFC Bank in India.

    Thanks

  9. The exchange rate sheet is not getting updated properly these days. Atleast the SBI exchange rates I checked were different from the ones on the SBI gls website.

  10. Hi Madhukar,

I am using this link regularly to see the comparison.
    http://d2r.madhukar4e.com/

It will be good if you display the last uploaded / updated date next to title so user can see if that is todays rate or yesterdays rate in case upload fails due to any reason.
Display last date of last successfull upload.

    Vry useful info.

    Thanks
    Santosh

  11. First let me thanks for your wonderful app which is a real help for guys like us
I have been using the dollar to rupee conversion and line chart for quite a while.

    My suggestion :
I think for line chart you use some kind of average algorithm of the conversion rate for any bank and plot it accordingly , For guys like me I generally transfer 2500 - 3000 $ and the conversion is best by SBI. But while looking into the graph remit2India is always on the top.
The line chart would be perfectly valid for other rates (I never mean to doubt your app :-P )
But it would be great if you can add a drop down or a text box which ask for the comparison for a particular rate in your app and generate a line chart.
